You may sign up for these classes on the Google Registration Form before permission is received; however, if the requirements are not met, you will be assigned to your next ranked class. Students in Peer Mentor or Teacher Aide courses must have good attendance, good grades, and good behavior to qualify, in addition to those outlined below.
Peer Mentor (.5 Credit/half year)
In order to be a Peer Mentor, you must enjoy helping other students who may have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, behavior support, or need support in other ways. This is one of our most popular classes. Students learn to help and serve others, they keep track of what they are learning in a log, and make friendships with their peers.
If you are approved you will be assigned. If not, we will enroll you in your next highest ranked class.
Teacher Aide (.5 Credit/half year)
As a Teacher Aide, you will be helping a classroom teacher with projects such as making copies, lesson prep, and perhaps assisting in student learning serving as a peer mentor to other students if needed. This is a first hand look at what teachers do behind the classroom scene.
In order to take this class, you must be requested by a teacher. Occasionally, we have more students than teachers. If this is the case, we will work with you to help you find a teacher or we'll look at other options.
